CYRIL has enjoyed a massive start to 2024, topping the Half-Yearly National Radio Airplay Chart with breakthrough single ‘Stumblin’ In’.
The Aussie DJ released the song in November 2023, lighting up TikTok and quickly gaining the attention of radio’s key decision makers. Scott Baker-Smith, Head of Music – Nova Network, knew the song was a perfect fit for Nova’s playlist, jumping on the track weeks before the other networks.
“As the first to play CYRIL on commercial radio, Nova has reaffirmed our hit music position and demonstrated our passion for local artists that can compete on the world stage. Upon its release, we playlisted the track immediately and it was pleasing to see it resonate with Nova’s audience just as quickly.”
‘Stumblin’ In’ went on to amass 19,177 spins in the six month period and has been played across 27 stations nationwide.
Alongside CYRIL, 2024 has seen a host a new artists stealing the spotlight from radio’s traditional heavyweights. Benson Boone, Teddy Swims, Doechii, Dasha, Shaboozey, Kenya Grace and Tyla all peaked in the Top 5 on the weekly AirCheck National Radio Airplay Chart, with Boone and Swims delivering #1 hits.
Ten singles by Australian artists made the chart in the first half of 2024. Troye Sivan earns two entries with ‘Got Me Started’ (#4) and ‘Rush’ (#26). Meanwhile, Vance Joy, Amy Shark and Sia continue to deliver radio-ready hits with all three artists finding a place within the Top 40.
Taylor Swift, Post Malone and Dua Lipa share the crown for the most amount of entries on the chart with three. The latter has had a remarkable year thus far, earning two spots in the Top 10 with ‘Houdini’ (#8) and ‘Training Season’ (#10).
