SCA’s Hit Network and the Nova Network have a strong presence in Australia’s major metropolitan radio markets, but how do their playlists match up?
Brisbane saw the most crossover with B105 and Nova 106.9 sharing 40.7% of their combined playlist. The top shared song was Ed Sheeran’s ‘Celestial’ with 346 spins. Brissy also had the largest combined playlist with a total of 1,404 individual songs.
Perth’s Mix94.5 and Nova 93.7 had the lowest percentage of crossover at 30.7% and one of the largest combined playlists at 1,343 songs. 56.8% of songs on the combined playlist aired exclusively on Mix.
Coming up against 2DayFM in Sydney, Nova 96.9 boasted the highest unique share of the combined playlist at 19.5%. Nova’s top exclusive song was Becky Hill & Galantis’ ‘Run’, while 2DayFM’s was ‘You Drive Me (Crazy)’ by Britney Spears.
Current airplay chart-topper ‘Flowers’ by Miley Cyrus was the top shared song in Melbourne and Adelaide (101.9 The Fox vs Nova 100 and SAFM vs Nova 91.9) where it tallied 296 and 226 spins, respectively.
